~ Moving to Our Area? ~
Here at Salem we are a small covenant community within a community of Greater Rome that includes Floyd county and the surrounding areas. Rome has been ranked the "number one small city of the southeast" to live and work in. The city is located about 65 miles northwest of Atlanta and 65 miles southwest of Chatanooga, TN.
" Rome is rated among the best places to live, work, and do business in America. Located as a center point between 3 metropolitan southern cities, Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Birmingham, a vibrant, supportive business climate complements Rome's strategic location, affordable real estate, and skilled workforce. These qualities alone attract high-caliber business and industry, yet it's the unmatched quality of life in Rome that keeps them here.
Situated amid seven hills at the convergence of three rivers, Greater Rome is a place like no other. From a downtown that mixes Southern charm with metropolitan culture to open lush acreage with trees and water, this "Enchanted Land" affords a quality of life and a business environment that beckon those who value both tradition and progress.
In this idyllic place, an enviable quality of life and healthy economy thrive. We celebrate the old along with the new: Historical homes and public buildings carefully preserved for generations to come, and cutting-edge technology as progressive new headquarters and industries locate and prosper in Greater Rome. Here you'll find exceptional schools, state-of-the-art healthcare, cultural and recreational amenities and a house to fit all needs and desires." ( The Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce)
Forbes Magazine featured Rome in its April 23 issue, highlighting the community’s manufacturing, educational and cultural assets. The issue featured what Forbes called America’s “Best Cities,” and included feature articles about Rome, Spokane, Wash., and Santa Cruz, Calif.
The article, titled “Hail, Rome!” spotlighted the city’s unique features that draw international manufacturers to Rome and Floyd County, quoting Suzuki Manufacturing of America Corporation vice president Akira Kyuji and Pirelli North America President and CEO Guy Mannino. Both executives told Forbes that the efforts of Coosa Valley Technical College to mold courses to fit their respective companies’ needs played a major role in their desire to locate in Rome. A new charter high school will also play a major part in the building of Rome’s skilled workforce, according to the article.
The community’s culture also impressed Forbes, as the magazine mentioned the musical prowess of the Rome Symphony Orchestra and Shorter College Opera graduates, the Rome Braves, the extensive wine collection at La Scala Restaurant and the atmosphere of Old Havana Cigar Company. Darlington School, whose current enrollment includes students from 16 countries, adds to the cultural flavor of the community.
